Home Filters Beat Bottled Water
As people have discovered that the water from their faucets often contains lead, mercury and other unhealthy contaminants the demand for bottled water has increased dramatically. At first sight this looks like the cheap option but but that’s not always the case. You may be surprised to find that using a water filter is more cost effective.
Two of the primary manufacturers of water filtering products include:
Whirlpool - All Whirlpool water filters are rigorously tested and are certified by the State and the NSF. Extensive laboratory tests are conducted to ensure the quality and performance of the filters.
Whirlpool sells products which provide clean water straight from the fuacet or refrigerator. They also have several whole house systems from which you can choose. The Gold Central Filtration System is designed to clean itself whilst supplying a continuous source of filtered water with no maintenance. Whirlpool filters are designed to remove the unwanted elements without extracting the good ones, an example of which is fluoride. They are also designed to povide 6 months of clean water before requiring a change.
NSA -The NSA company stopped manufacturing their water filters in December 2007. However, you can still buy replacement filters, at least until their supplies are all sold. The same goes for the distributors that still have replacement cartridges in stock.
Many of the NSA branded filters and cartridge replacements are still available online at sites such as Ebay and Amazon dot com. Also, there are a number of companies who manufacture comparable replacements for the NSA filters.
Another option is to buy a conversion kit which allows you to keep using the NSA filter. They are easy to install and enable you to use other filter cartridges within your unit.
Purchasing a home water filter is a good value way to ensure that your family has safe, healthy drinking water. You can potentially save 100s of dollars over the cost of bottled water and you won’t be adding to the glut of plastic already present in landfill sites.
